TCHAIKOVSKY AND BORODIN
Our opening performance this season with the Alpharetta Symphony was filled with the kind of energy, excitement, and community spirit that reminds us why we love making music together. “Music from the Silver Screen” brought some of the most memorable sounds of the movies to the concert stage, creating an evening that was both thrilling and unforgettable.
From the very first note, we could feel the excitement at Innovation Academy. There is something special about hearing music that has become part of our collective memories performed live by a full orchestra. It was a wonderful way to welcome audiences back and officially begin our 2026 - 2027 season.
Most importantly, we are incredibly proud to represent the Alpharetta community. The support, enthusiasm, and passion of our audience is what makes these performances possible, and we are grateful to everyone who joined us for our season opener. We are looking forward to an incredible season of music, connection, and shared experiences and we can't wait to see where this season takes us!
Next Up: The Tale of Two Symphonies
If our season opener was a celebration of the music we know and love from the silver screen, our next concert takes us somewhere entirely different and equally exciting. Our upcoming program features Alexander Borodin’s Symphony no. 2 in b minor and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 2 “Little Russian” in c minor. There are no musical appetizers this time. That's right: no overture, no concerto, no tone poems, just two epic and prolific symphonies. Borodin’s Symphony No. 2 is bold, powerful, and richly colored, filled with the grandeur and unmistakable character of Russian Romanticism. It is a work that demands both strength and sensitivity from the orchestra, moving between dramatic intensity and sweeping lyricism.
Then comes Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2, a work bursting with energy, melody, and orchestral brilliance. Often nicknamed the “Little Russian,” the symphony draws inspiration from Ukrainian folk melodies and showcases Tchaikovsky’s remarkable ability to transform traditional musical ideas into sweeping symphonic statements. Together, these two works create a program that is truly about the orchestra itself. We bring you the colors of sound, the power from all of the instrument families, the unforgettable melodies, and the incredible emotional range that only a symphony orchestra can deliver.
We invite you to join us as we continue our 2026 - 2027 season and experience these remarkable works live with the Alpharetta Symphony on Friday October 30th at 7:30 pm at the Innovation Academy. Whether you are a longtime supporter or this will be your first concert with us, we look forward to sharing the music with you.
