Updated: Jul 22, 2018

The Alpharetta Symphony Orchestra presented a “Solos of Spring” concert featuring finalists from their Youth Concerto Competition on March 24, 2018 at the Alpharetta Presbyterian Church.

Sarah Williams, Ava Posner, Elise Park, and Qilin Tong, finalists from the Youth Concerto Competition hosted by the Alpharetta Symphony Orchestra during November of 2017 performed the following along with the AlphaSO:

· Haydn Oboe Concerto in C Major, Mvt. 1

· Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-Flat Major, Mvt. 1

· Mozart Flute Concerto in G Major, Mvt. 1

· Mozart Piano Concerto No. 18 in B-Flat Major, Mvt. 1

"These local, young artists have dedicated so much of their energy to making quality music,” said Dr. Eric Hawk, director. “The AlphaSO has never been more excited to perform with these winners. The repertoire selections have a sense of simplicity, yet the musical challenges have been some of our greatest. We looked forward to this inaugural event!" All four soloists were students at local area high schools with impressive bios.

The performances received standing ovations.

The Alpharetta Symphony is looking forward to hosting their next Youth Concerto Competition during November of 2018. They are very committed to enriching the musical experiences of the youth in the surrounding communities, and hope to develop a Youth Symphony Orchestra program as early as the summer of 2019.
